CFB Gametime Podcast: Around the Nation with Bill Bender

look around the SEC. This week, let’s start with the SEC East.

Georgia: Some good news for the Dawgs of late.  Quarterback J.T. Daniels and defensive tackle Jordan Davis has said they will be back in Athens.  They offense should be among the SEC’s best in ’21.  Defensively, Davis gives Georgia a building block up front.  The secondary may need a bit of an overhaul.

Florida: So I guess Todd Grantham is going to stay huh?  Instead Florida will re-tool it’s coaching staff on the defensive side of the ball.  The Gators are looking for a new coach for both their corners and safeties.  The secondary was an issue for the Gators in 2020.  Emory Jones should take over at quarterback.  His skill set fits the Mullin mold nicely.  Will be an interesting 2021 in Gainesville.

Missouri: Eli Drinkowitz had a nice first season in Columbia.  The Tigers have their quarterback of the future in freshman Conner Bazelak.  Larry Roundtree capped off a nice but unappreciated career at tailback.  There will be a new starter there in ’21.

South Carolina: Well the Mike Bobo, Will Friend experiment for the Gamecocks last a few hours before both bolted for Auburn.  Not a good look for first time head coach Shane Beamer.

Tennessee: All signs point to Tennessee trying to find a way to part with Jeremy Pruitt with cause.  That means Pruitt goes away and Tennessee gets to hand on to their money.  The pending NCAA investigation will determine Pruitt’s fate.

Kentucky: Terry Wilson is finally gone from Lexington.  The guy who guided the ‘Cats to wins at Tennessee and at Florida will play somewhere else next year.

Vanderbilt: New coach Clark Lea is working on finishing up hiring his staff.  Vandy is coming off a winless season, there is no where to go but up for the Commodores.
