Disneyland dropping mask requirement for vaccinated guests in most indoor areas

ANAHEIM, Calif. (KNX) — Starting Thursday, vaccinated guests at Disneyland can forgo wearing face masks in most indoor areas of the amusement park if they choose, per Disneyland’s updated COVID-19 policy.

Face coverings will still be required for unvaccinated guests ages 2 and older in all indoor locations at the park, according to an announcement made on Disneyland’s website Tuesday.

Face masks are still required for all guests, regardless of vaccination status, in certain indoor settings including Disney shuttles and in first aid areas.

Officials also updated the requirements for face coverings, banning neck gaiters, open-chin, triangle bandanas, and face coverings containing valves or mesh material, based on guidance from health authorities.

Coverings must be at least two layers of breathable material and should fully cover a person’s nose and mouth, officials said.

The update comes as California’s indoor mask mandate is set to expire Tuesday night, following declining cases of the Omicron variant.
