Okay, so let me lay this out. There is this singer Anita White that goes by the name 'Lady A'. Last month Lady Antebellum changed their name to 'Lady A" without realizing there is already an artist with that same name.
I guess the word antebellum somehow represents Pre-Civil War architecture in the south. Lady Antebellum decided to change their name to not offend anyone and said sorry.
So, Lady Antebellum changes their name to Lady A and immediacy get hit up by the original Lady A asking them "WTF are you doing, you could have emailed me"...that's not an exact quote.
Lady Antebellum connected with Anita White and said that they worked out all the issues with the whole Lady A thing.
"We are excited to share we are moving forward with positive solutions and common ground. The hurt is turning into hope. More to come," a quote from Lady Antebellum's Instagram stated.
Well, it seems they spoke too soon. White received some sort of agreement from Lady Antebellum and said:
"I'm not happy about [it] yet again after talking in good faith, their camp is trying to erase me."
Lady Antebellum said that the original Lady A is demanding $10 million, "So reluctantly we have come to the conclusion that we need to ask a court to affirm our right to continue to use the name Lady A, a trademark we have held for many years." They added,"We hope Anita and the advisers she is now listening to will change their minds about their approach. We can do so much more together than in this dispute."
When White received the latest news she posted on Facebook, "No Weapon formed against me will prosper."
Wheewwwww...that's a whole lot of drama.
I love how Lady Antebellum changed their name to not hurt anyone, and immediately steals some other artists name and hurts someone. Good call Lady A...or Antebellum...or whoever you are.
