It seems it’s raining fish in parts of San Francisco due to an increase in population of coastal anchovies, Newsweek Reports.

What would cause a boom in population? Well, the water is colder this year due to an upwelling of nutrient-dense water from the deep ocean. These conditions are perfect for baitfish like anchovies.

Experts say the falling fish aren’t actually any sort of weather system, but it’s likely caused from pelicans with large pouches full of anchovies accidentally dropping them.
