1 Restless Road — “Bar Friends”
You can never have too many Country party songs, and that’s exactly what Restless Road is giving us with “Bar Friends.” This song is sure to get the drinks flowin’ as the trio sings about all the wonderful people there are to meet at your local bar. “Yeah, all in all I'd say that life's been good to me so far,” the chorus sings after mentioning all different types of friends. “But you know where I go when it gets hard / Out with my bar friends.” Clearly, these guys are all about a good time and it’s only made clearer in the epic music video that will have you calling an Uber to get to your local bar to make new friends ASAP! So many friends, so little time!
2 Ashland Craft — “Make It Past Georgia”
There’s a new Country badass in town and her name is Ashland Craft. Leaving no room to question her songwriting or singing abilities, this song is an outstanding representation of the South Carolina native, who recently released her debut album, TRAVELIN’ KIND. Written by Craft alongside Reid Isbell, and Willie Morrison, “Make It Past Georgia,” explores the strong connection of people to places as Craft sings about her exes, referring to them as the different states and cities they hail from. As she’s able to release Louisiana, Birmingham, Dallas, Mississippi and more, heartbreak strikes as she attempts to revisit Georgia. “I remember us walking into the write and I was at the point where I was just like ‘let’s write something that we want to write today, let’s write something enjoyable, you know?’” Craft said on Instagram of the day she wrote the song with Isbell and Morrison. “I had this title/melody in my head that I had come up with… Didn’t know where the heck I was going to go with that and brought that idea up to them… we just went with it from there and it was cool to kind of connect these places and people in this song in this way and I really love how it turned out.”
3 Ben Gallaher — “Every Small Town”
This feel-good tune is a straight down the middle Country song that’s perfect for rolling down your windows as you wind through the backroads. Written by Gallaher, who was raised in small-town America, the song is a tribute to the hard-working, humble, one-of-a-kind citizens lucky enough to be raised in a small-town. “To me ‘Every Small Town,’ is a way of life,” Gallaher said of the single. “It’s God, it’s country, family, friends, hard work, values. Every one of those things is in that song. It’s the way I grew up. It’s the way a lot of us grew up. Even if you live in a big city, chances are you’re from a small town – or you’re close to someone who is. I believe we all have a little bit of small town in us.”
4 Brittney Spencer — “Sober & Skinny”
As big time Country fans, you know we love us some real talk and Brittney Spencer is serving up a solid dose of it with “Sober & Skinny.” Spencer pushes the envelope as she uses honest ideas surrounding weight struggles and alcohol abuse as metaphors for larger issues in life with the ultimate message that we all have more in common than we think. The highly emotional song strings together the broken-ness of humankind with an underlying glimmer of hope that proves, despite facing different struggles on the outside, we are more alike on the inside than we may realize. In addition to being a lyrical masterpiece, the song showcases Spencer’s incredible instrument that landed her a spot as a touring back-up singer for Carrie Underwood earlier in her career. Now, with full momentum on her own artist career, Brittney Spencer is ready to stand centerstage.
5 Kolby Cooper — “Boy From Anderson County”
Don’t let his young age of 22 fool you, Kolby Cooper is a husband of three years, father to two daughters and writes all about it in this sentimental song that shows maturity beyond his years. “This is one of one of the mot personal I’ve ever put out,” Cooper shared in an Instagram video announcing the songs release. “It’s all about me growing up in a small East Texas town and finding the girl made me want to chase my dreams and be a better person.” The song oozes vulnerability as Cooper recalls some of his most treasured memories while falling in love with his wife, Jillian, who he’s known since the third grade. The single serves as the title track to Cooper’s recently-released EP, which is full of even more tunes that encompass real-life stories from not only his own life, but his family and friends’ as well. "I would say that if a true fan looks at everything we do, there is not much they don't know about me,” he told PEOPLE. Get to know Cooper even more by listening to his Boy From Anderson County EP, available now.
6 Kylie Morgan — “I Only Date Cowboys”
Kylie Morgan is a woman who knows what she wants and no one can convince her otherwise. This sassy tune is all about the appeal of a hard-workin’ cowboy from a woman’s perspective and boy, is she giving them some major cred. While Kylie is just starting to enjoy a spotlight all her own, the songstress is no stranger to the Country music world as she’s been writing songs since the age of 12 and has been on tour with artists including Dan + Shay, Little Big Town, Maren Morris, Gavin DeGraw, Brett Eldredge and Billy Currington. Morgan is currently in the studio working on her debut album, and it’s clear the future is very bright for this up-and-comer.
7 Ernest — “American Rust”
One of the most in-demand songwriters in Nashville — writing hits for artists including Florida Georgia Line, Sam Hunt, Chris Lane, Mitchell Tenpenny and more— Ernest is now holding tight to some of the stellar songs he writes as he embarks on his own artist career. One of those songs being, “American Rust.” The song, which encompasses the beauty of the little things life exhibits a more sentimental approach than fans may be used to from the larger than life personality that has a way with party songs. This fresh level of maturity only adds to the appeal of the Nashville native, but don’t get us wrong — we look forward to some more rowdy, one-of-a-kind drinkin’ songs in what we believe will be the very near future. Cheers!
