Jackson is celebrating the release of his 16th studio album, Where Have You Gone, today and revealed that one of the songs was inspired by Justin Timberlake’s 2006 hit, “SexyBack.” Yeah, we didn’t see that coming either.

"It started as a joke, really,” Jackson told fellow Country artist, Kelleigh Bannen. "I don't know about the other music so much, but my kids were talking about that Justin Timberlake had this 'Bringing Sexy Back' song and they were just laughing and talking about it. And I hadn't even heard it and they were just laughing, and I said, 'Well, I think I'm going to write one about I'm going to bring country back.' "

While he was joking at the time, Alan Jackson stuck to his word and wrote the song, “Back,” which sits smack in the middle of his new album’s tracklist.

"I didn't write it from a position that I'm going to bring country back," he shared. "I think it was just more of a fun song and I ended up taking all these memories, visual memories of things that I remember growing up in the South in a small town, which is so relatable to country music."

We’re so happy to see Alan Jackson having some fun with his music after taking time off following the back-to-back deaths of his mother and son-in-law.

Jackson recently made his first public appearance since the break with an emotional performance at the 56 Annual ACM Awards.
