Jordan Davis and Luke Bryan have spent a lot of time together over the last several months as their song, “Buy Dirt,” has grown bigger and bigger. From filming the music video to joint performances and award nominations, the pair have blossomed quite the bromance.

With lots of memories to choose from, Jordan says it’s the times Luke has encouraged him to “calm down” and take life as it comes that stand out most vividly to him.
“[For] Crash My Playa, I went down and played with him and we did ‘Buy Dirt,’” Davis shared with Audacy’s Katie Neal. “I was like, freaking out about not knowing what he wanted me to play. He wanted me to do some cover songs. I was like ‘Luke, what do you want me to do?’ And he was like, ‘Ah, man. We’ll figure it out.’”
Luke’s answer wasn’t sufficient for Jordan, who wanted to make sure he was fully prepared to take the stage and not mess anything up. “I was like, ‘Dude, this is a big festival! I really don’t want to go out there and figure it out,’” said Jordan. “And he [Luke] was like, ‘Dude! I need you to calm down!’”
Jordan says being told to “calm down” was the advice he needed not only for that moment, but a great reminder for life overall. Admiring Luke’s go-with-the-flow attitude, Jordan also shared the time unexpected rain delayed their video shoot for “Buy Dirt,” but Luke made the most out of a break in their schedule.
“Shootin’ the music video [for ‘Buy Dirt’] we had a big storm roll through and so we were all there waitin’ for the storm to pass and he [Luke] comes on my trailer and he’s like, ‘Hey, you wanna sit here and watch it rain, or go drive around my farm and drink beer and look for deer?’” Jordan recalled. “I was like, ‘let’s do that one!’”
The good vibes for these besties will hopefully continue into the CMT Awards on Monday night as they are up for CMT Collaborative Video of the Year for “Buy Dirt.”
“We knew the song was special but I never would have thought — and Luke says the same thing — we both love the song, but we both never thought it would do what it’s done,” Jordan said. “This is another way to celebrate it!”
