In August, Ballerini shared her beloved Doodle, Dibs, was diagnosed with terminal cancer in his heart. At the time, she revealed her plans to have him undergo chemo to keep him as comfortable as possible for whatever time he had left. According to veterinarians, that was about four months.
Now, at that four month mark, Ballerini says Dibs is handling his chemo treatments like a champ and outlasting his projected survival time. While still unsure of how much time he has left, Ballerini is feeling grateful — especially around the holidays.

"Truthfully, his original prognosis was 4 months. That was 4 months ago," she shared on a recent story slide on Instagram. “He's still steady and happy, so every day is a gift and I'm a little extra grateful we get the holidays together this year."
Her love and support for Dibs through his battle is clearly displayed in her posted photo which shows him sporting a bandana that reads “Kicking Cancer’s Tail” while posing in front of a banner that displays “We Are So Proud of You.”
