Target has announced that face masks will be required for both their customers and employees in stores located in areas with a substantial or high risk of transmission for Covid-19 regardless of vaccination status.

The announcement came after the CDC updated masking guidance and will go into effect on Tuesday, the company said in a press release.

Target will continue to recommend face coverings for unvaccinated employees and guests in areas where people are not at high risk.

In the press release, the company stressed its efforts throughout the pandemic.

“The health and safety of our guests and team members have been Target’s top priority throughout the pandemic,” the company said.

The decision for what areas are considered substantial or high risk of transmission will be based on the CDC’s definition.
