The Olympics have never been rescheduled in peacetime. In 1916, 1940 and 1944, the Games were canceled because of world wars.
Following a call with Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, the International Olympic Committee has agreed that the games will now be held "beyond 2020 but not later than summer 2021."
