HOT 103.7 is celebrating Black History Month and we want you to join in as we reflect on the importance of black history in America. Here are virtual and in-person events that you can participate in all month long to learn more and celebrate Black History Month.
National African American Museum (Virtual events + in-person)
The National African American Museum will be holding a series of events during Black History Month that you can join in on! Events will primarily be virtual as the museum itself is closed due to COVID, but you can still join in on educational seminars, film screenings and more:
- Feb 13th @ 1pm: 'The ABC's of Black History' Interactive Storytime. Watch it on NAAM's YouTube channel HERE.
- Feb 17th @ 5pm: A Conversation with the Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. Register HERE.
- Feb 23rd @ 2:30pm: 'Blood Brothers' film screening. Register HERE.

Museum of History & Industry - The Black and Tan Collection Exhibit (Opens Feb. 19th - IN PERSON)
Celebrating Seattle's early Black jazz scene by diving into the five-decade long history of the Black and Tan club on 12th and Jackson. The club was one of the first interracial establishments in Seattle. View Bonnie Hopper's oil paintings of the renowned musicians who played at the nightclub. Get tickets HERE.
Seattle Center's 'A Seattle History Worth Preserving: Buffalo Soldiers Exhibit' - Feb. 10th at the Armory Balcony (IN PERSON)
An education exhibit at the Seattle Center Armory celebrating the history of Black Soldiers who served in the military in a segregated army that were stationed at Fort Lawton as a part of the U.S Army's 25th Infantry. Get more info HERE.
The Intentionalist: Black History Month Receipt & Receive
In celebration of Black History Month, The Intentionalist is partnering with Seattle Storm, Sounders FC, OL Reign, Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, and Seattle Kraken to reward participants when spending at Black-owned businesses. Upload your receipt from a purchase at a Black-owned small business from Feb. 1st - 28th and be entered to win special prizes from your favorite sports teams and the Intentionalist! Seattle Public Library's Stanlie James And Guests Discuss "Practical Audacity: Black Women And International Human Rights" - Feb 10th @ 6pm (VIRTUAL)
