The latest to call out the Recording Academy, Tha Doggfather took to Instagram to vent his frustration for having never won a golden gramophone despite being nominated 20 different times.
In his post, Snoop shared a screenshot of a tweet listing the rappers with the most GRAMMY wins, which included JAY-Z and Kanye West with 24, Kendrick Lamar with 17, Eminem with 15 and Pharrell with 13. To caption the post Snoop kept things simple and succinct, “Snoop dogg. 20 nominations. 0 wins,” alongside the following emojis 👊🏾🐾👏🏿.
And he’s right, Snoop has been nominated at the GRAMMYs several times, in various different categories including; Best Rap Solo Performance in 1995 for “Gin and Juice”, Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 2000 for “Still D.R.E.,” as well as Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “Beautiful” in 2004 and Best Rap Song in 2005 for “Drop It Like It’s Hot," just to name a few.
And while Snoop isn’t the only rapper to be nominated and not awarded, he does currently holds the most snubs on the list of legendary overlooked rappers. A roster that includes the likes of Tupac, Biggie, DMX, Busta Rhymes, Nicki Minaj, and Rick Ross.
