“Oooooooo boyyyyyyy. We back!!!!!!!!,” Timbaland announced before the summer, hinting at something new from himself and partners Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake -- who brought fans the 2007 hit “Give It To Me” -- ramping up the anticipation once again last month with a social media post stacked with images of the trio from their original hook up through their latest studio sessions.
According to a press release, the track originated from Beatclub, the immensely successful Timbaland-founded music creator platform, and its members, Last Trip to the Moon. After a one-on-one session with the group’s production team members Brandon Stewart and Brandon Cordoba who created the beat (a regular service the Beatclub platform offers to its users), the rest was history for Timbaland, in what he now refers to as “the call that ignited the spark.” Shortly after, Timbaland added his signature production style to the song and brought in Timberlake and Furtado as featured vocalists. Now fans can hear the WORLD PREMIERE of "Keep Going Up" all day on select Audacy stations nationwide starting at 12AM ET / 9PM PT.
Keep it locked for more details around Timbaland's Textbook Timbo EP, "coming like a thief in the night," immediately following the new single's release he promises.
Additionally, the wait is now on for JT's forthcoming, Timbaland-helmed sixth studio album, as the producer said back in April, "It’s really on [JT] how he plans to wrap it up and how and when he envisions it to come out. With an artist of his caliber, everything has to be aligned, but it’s done and it’s coming,” Timbo says.
