Skin care sales are projected to be over $145 Billion in 2023. It can be overwhelming trying to find the right product that is good for you and Mama Earth. Natural? Organic? Vegan? Knowing what these labels mean make for a more eco-conscious consumer.

The 'Fair Packaging and Label Act' requires some information to be known about products, but there aren't uniform standards that are set. This creates the issue with labels. They don't always tell the whole story about the products they're attached too. Knowing how you are spending your money matters for eco-friendly skin care.

Natural Skin Care Products
Contain plant and mineral-based products, but they don't have to contatin only natural ingredients. An example is a product could have aloe in it, but still contain artificial colors and fragrances. Natural ingredients aren't necessarily organic. There are no ethical production or sustainability claims. 'Natural' doesn't have much regulation to it.

Organic Skin Care Products
Contain ingredients that are grown without synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. Considered more environmentally friendly. Look for the organic certifications from Ecocert or USDA-certified organic.

Vegan Skin Care Products
They are free from animal-derived ingredients ... including lanolin, beeswax and biotin. Doesn't mean natural or organic. A Vegan lifestyle can be for health benefits, but also for animal welfare. Although 'Cruelty-Free' products aren't automatically 'Vegan'. It means not tested on animals.
