Skillet Recalls the Impact of the Passing of Chester Bennington

Chester Bennington left a somber, yet creative legacy after his 2017 death. Artists from across the globe mourned his passing, even some who never met the Linkin Park frontman. Lead singer for Skillet, John Cooper, was among those who missed an opportunity to play with Bennington, but used his legacy as inspiration.

“I never knew Chester but I had always hoped we would tour together, but we never got the chance, and I still feel really sad about that,” he told RADIO.COM during our 2019 I’m Listening broadcast.

“I was using that as inspiration to write a song which ended up being the title track, ‘Victorious’.” The single assures listeners with mental health problems they are not alone, and there is someone to help. “His death was the reason for me to write a song about depression.
