State pride is a big part of being a Texan, as most in the state are quick to claim the Lone Star state as the best throughout the country. However, those outside of Texas may not see it exactly the same way. A new survey asked Americans to rank all 50 states using head-to-head matchups and the results may come as a surprise to some, especially those in Texas.

As seen in the recent study done by YouGov, Americans picked Hawaii as their number one state. The results were found by asking respondents to choose between two states in a series of matchups, and the rankings were based on each states win percentage. Rounding out the top five were Colorado, Virginia, Nevada and North Carolina.

According to Brobible, Texas ranked tenth on the list of best states with a win rate of 58%. Overall, the south and Midwest took big hits, with the majority of the bottom 10 coming from those regions. Still, Texas made the top 10, which many can be proud of. It may not be first, but at least it’s not last.
