Thanks to the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems now every movie franchise is hoping to build an entire world around their story. While others have tried, none have come anywhere close to the success of the MCU. However, they keep trying and now it appears Nintendo will do the same. After it was previously reported that a Mario movie is on the way, now it has been revealed that a Donkey Kong movie is in the works as well.
When the cast of the upcoming Mario movie was announced, some fans were a bit upset with the choices, but the one name every fan seemed to get behind was Seth Rogen voicing Donkey Kong. Apparently the people at Nintendo heard the fans, and are now working on a stand-alone Donkey Kong movie starring Rogen before the Mario version is released. Not much is known about the project, other than it will be developed by Illumination, who is working on the Super Mario Bros. movie as well, and previously worked on films such as ‘Despicable Me’ and ‘Minion.’

According to IGN, it is unknown if any other the other actors announced for the Super Mario Bros. film will be joining Rogen in the Donkey Kong project. After years of asking, it appears fans will finally get a Mario Cinematic Universe.
