One of the classic field trip every student takes during the school year is to the local museum.
But what if your school was the museum itself?
The Museum School of East Dallas, which serves students from kindergarten through the eighth grade, follows a “museum model,” which according to the Dallas Morning News emphasizes immersive learning and educational experiences outside a classroom.
Learning revolves around field trips, or “learning expeditions,” where students prepare for the visits beforehand and reflect on them afterward.
Caitlin McNeal has children enrolled at the school. Like many parents, she was looking for a “nontraditional” education for her kids. She told the News, “Learning can happen anywhere. The values of the school really align with our family.”
