It has been seven months since rock icon Eddie Van Halen passed away; yet friends, family and fans continue to honor the guitarist whenever they have a chance. Over the weekend, it was Alex Van Halen’s turn to share a touching for his brother. On his 68th birthday, Alex posted a message letting fans know his brother was definitely on his mind.
Not much has been heard from Alex Van Halen since his brother passed away, but the Van Halen drummer decided to share a photo and a statement on his birthday. Alex took to the Van Halen News Desk website, writing “First birthday without you, Ed. The view from my drum set will never be the same. VH forever! #vanhalenforever." It was only the second public statement Alex Van Halen has made since his brother’s death, writing two days later “Hey Ed, love you. See you on the other side."
While Alex Van Halen may have been thinking of his brother, many others shared tributes to the drummer to celebrate his birthday. According to Ultimate Classic Rock, Eddie Van Halen’s son, Wolfgang, posting a tribute to the drummer writing “Happy Birthday to my badass uncle Al. Love you!” Hopefully the birthday message brightened up Alex’s day for a bit.
