Eddie Murphy’s long awaited sequel to the beloved classic ‘Coming to America’ is finally here, and apparently another movie icon is to thank. According to Murphy seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger in the most recent ‘Terminator’ film inspired him to finally make ‘Coming 2 America.’ Once he saw technology could make Schwarzenegger look younger, he knew he could pull off his own reboot.
‘Coming 2 America’ was released by Amazon Prime on Friday, and while many thought this day would never come, it was another reboot that helped make it happen. “You know what happened, I was watching, one of those Terminator movies with Schwarzenegger and they used the special effect where they made him really young. I was like, ‘If they did that, we could do a scene where we’re young’ … and that was the piece that made it all sort of fall into place,” said Murphy.
While both Murphy and costar Arsenio Hall used CGI to make them look younger in the film, they still spent plenty of time in the makeup chair as well to pull off the many beloved characters they portray in the film, according to Yahoo. However, now fans of the film know; without Schwarzenegger none of this would be possible.
