There aren’t many things to complain about in Texas, but the one thing people often point to is the lack of ocean for most cities in the Lone Star state. While the Gulf of Mexico gets plenty of love in the southern part of the state, most Texans are forced to go elsewhere for their summertime beach activities. However, a new company from Australia is looking to make their way to Texas, bringing wave pool surf lakes to DFW.
Australian based Surf Lakes has become known for their massive wave pools that bring surfing to cities without an ocean. “We’ve had close to 600 inquiries from all areas of the planet. There is also a huge opportunity to really penetrate the non-surfing market places by locating near shopping malls and local sports fields,” said Surf Lakes CEO Aaron Trevis. Each wave pool built by the company ranges from 5 acres to 9 acres.
While it is unknown where exactly the Surf Lake will end up, the company expects to be starting construction in DFW by the end of 2021, according to Dallas Morning News. Soon people in North Texas will be adding surfing to their list of skills. It’ll be hard for other states to outdo Texas once the Surf Lake is up and running.
