Most wedding bands never quite make it to the level of fame they anticipated, usually forced to continue playing cover songs as drunk people dance the night away. However, 45 years after one of their best performances, one wedding band from Washington DC is finally getting their due. A video of a wedding band covering ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ in 1976 recently went viral, as many are now asking for this band to make a comeback.
While those who attended a wedding in Washington DC during the 1970’s may know the band Sixpense, most weren’t aware of the group until a video of them covering Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ recently went viral online.
The black and white video was originally recorded in 1976, but was recently shared online by Arnie Reed, who played keyboards for another cover band in the 1970’s Washington DC wedding band circuit. Reed actually shared the video in 2012, but it just recently began racking up views.
According to the Washington Post, the video has now been viewed over 340,000 times. Many online are calling for the band to get back together after seeing the video. Hopefully one more ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ performance is in the group’s future.
