Back in 2019, fast food fanatics went crazy over Popeye’s new chicken sandwich, causing a number of other chains to launch their own version, creating the “Chicken Sandwich Wars.” While the initial reaction was chaotic, things have since calmed down as people are no longer fighting over these sandwiches. However that could soon change, as Chick-fil-A recently announced they will debut their first new chicken sandwich in nearly a decade later this month.

On August 28, Chick-fil-A will add the new “Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich” to menus nationwide. According to Tasting Table, the sandwich features an original Chick-fil-A filet, topped with custom-made creamy pimento cheese, mild pickled jalapeños and served on a warm, toasted bun drizzled with sweet honey. For the pimento cheese, Chick-fil-A used sharp cheddar and added in green chilis as well as pimentos.

This is also the first time jalapeños have been used on a Chick-fil-A sandwich, replacing the pickles that are normally in that position. As if the new sandwich wasn’t enough, the fast food chain will also debut a new Caramel Crumble Milkshake for fall. Now, fans will just have to wait and see if any other fast food restaurants retaliate.
