There isn’t much more frustrating than being forced to deal with bad service from a company. While customers don’t have many options to prevent poor service, one way many have dealt with these issues in recent years is by leaving a bad review for the company online. However, one couple may be regretting their bad review now, as the roofing company they gave a 1-star Google review to is now suing them for $112,000.
Autumn Knepper and Adam Marsh of Vancouver, Washington recently decided to leave a bad review for Executive Roof Services after a negative experience with the company’s receptionist over the phone. Each left their own review; however their reviews have now led to a defamation lawsuit. According to Business Insider, the couple was contacted by the company's owner, Michael Mecham, who asked them to remove their posts, but when they remained he decided to take legal action.
“He told me that he knew where I lived. He said he had forensics guy and that he would gladly spend a hundred thousand dollars suing me," said Knepper. Now, the couple is hoping to clear up this issue, instead of being forced to pay $112,000 for defamation. Hopefully next time the couple deals with bad service, they will just find another company instead.
