Christmas is over, which means Christmas music is no longer playing all over the world. While some are disappointed, others were ready to get back to listening to non-holiday music. That includes one couple that was so tired of hearing one Christmas song in particular; they are now trying to raise money to buy the rights to that song, so they never have to hear it again.

For many, Wham’s ‘Last Christmas’ is one of the best Christmas songs ever recorded, but as far as Hannah Mazetti is concerned, the song should never be played again. After being forced to listen to the song over and over again at a café she previously worked at, Mazetti grew a strong dislike for the holiday season classic, and is now attempting to get rid of it forever. Along with her husband, Tomas, Mazetti set up a campaign that so far has raised over £50,000 with over 300 contributors.

“It’s fun because people either love or hate the idea! Maybe next Christmas will be the last Christmas!” said Mazetti. According to NME, the song’s rights would cost millions to purchase, so the campaign still has a long way to go. If they hit their goal buy next Christmas, a holiday favorite may no longer be on the playlist.
