While it has been almost 30 years since Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain passed away, fans are still learning new things about the grunge icon all the time. A big reason for this is all the information about his life and works his widow, Hole singer Courtney Love, has graciously shared with fans over the years. Now, Love has given fans arguably the greatest insight into Cobain’s writing process yet, sharing unpublished lyrics to one of the band’s most iconic songs.

During a recent interview, Courtney Love discussed her relationship with Kurt Cobain, telling anecdotes about their time together, and even giving fans a look at some never before heard lyrics. “Some of these were in these journals, and some of them are unpublished,” said Love. The lyrics were meant to be included on ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit,’ according to NME.

“Come out and play / make up the rules / I know I hope / to buy the truth / who will be the king and queen / of all the outcasted teens” before the chorus kicks in: “We’re so lazy / and so stupid / blame our parents / and the cupids / a deposit, for a bottle / stick it inside / no role model,” Love read during the interview. With these new lyrics, now fans will have something to argue about for the rest of time.
