The Dallas Mavericks may not have had a game Friday night, but they still managed to get a major victory. The team held their annual Mavs Ball, and they managed to raise $1.8 million for charity. The Mavs Foundation event featured an auction, a performance by Kool & The Gang and plenty of fun that already has many wondering how it will be topped next year.

On Friday night, the Dallas Mavericks took over the Omni Dallas Hotel for their 8th annual Mavs Ball. The entire team was in attendance, walking the Blue carpet and interacting with fans. Newest Mavs player Kyrie Irving even got in on the fun, bidding $25,000 for a State Fair of Texas visit with teammates Maxi Kleber and Dwight Powell.

"Any time you get a chance to raise money for the community and the foundation, that is always a good thing," said Mavs owner Mark Cuban. According to Sports Illustrated, the event featured a performance by Kool & The Gang, and a game of “double up” that helped get the total donation to $1.8 million. Hopefully the event helped put the team in good spirits heading into the final stretch of the season.
