Every year on May 4th, Star Wars fans celebrate their favorite media franchise, and while the date has nothing to do with Star Wars, other than giving people the ability to say “may the forth be with you,” it has become a major holiday for fans. This year, plenty got in on the festivities, including DFW International Airport, who arranged for Darth Vader and his Storm Troopers to take over Terminal D.
There are many Star Wars fans that wish they could celebrate Star Wars Day by traveling to a galaxy far, far away, but this year many had to stick to traveling Earth. That’s why DFW International Airport decided to give travelers a bit of a surprise, having Darth Vader and a group of Storm Troopers roam the corridors of Terminal D. According to NBC DFW, the group took photos with fans and even helped guide an incoming American Airlines flight to the jetway.
“It's just nice to see people be surprised and light up and smile. It really is what we're all about,” said DFW Airport Media Relations Manager Cynthia Vega. The Darth Vader and Storm Troopers are a group from North Texas that call themselves the “501st Legion.” With this group, airport security definitely ran smoother than normal.
