Choosing a baby name is a difficult decision for any parent. Not only do they want to find something meaningful, but they hope the name they choose doesn’t lead to their child getting made fun of. In recent years, it has become more popular to name a baby after a particular location. However, new data has surprisingly revealed more babies are named Dallas outside of Texas than inside the Lone Star state.
A recent study on baby names found some interesting tidbits about children named after locations. Using data from the Social Security Administration, the study found that some location based names are actually more popular outside of those areas. According to Axios, the data revealed that 1.2x the amount of babies named Dallas are not from Texas.

Overall the top location baby name outside of that area was Trenton, which was 85 times more popular outside of the state of New Jersey. On the other side, the study also found that almost all the babies named Tex come from Texas, as well as the name Abilene. As for Dallas, clearly DFW is so great even the rest of the country wants to honor the metroplex.
