One of the worst parts of being a twin is being forced to share a birthday with your sibling. Well, luckily for a pair of twins that were born in Denton recently, not only do they not share a birthday, they weren’t even born in the same year. The babies were born over the weekend, with one being born on New Year’s Eve, and the other on New Year’s Day.
On Saturday, Kali Jo Scott checked into Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton for a C-section a week and a half before her twins were due. The change of plans ended up making the birth even more special, as now her twins aren’t so similar. According to Fox 4 News, Annie Jo was born at 11:55 P.M. on December 31 and Effie Rose was born at 12:01 A.M. on January 1.

Not only were the babies born on separate days, but Annie Jo was the hospital’s last baby born in 2022, and her sister was their first baby of 2023. “We had kind of joked, like, 'wouldn't it be funny if…' with the holiday and New Year's Eve over the weekend. It turned out that was more of a possibility than we realized," said Scott. The only down side is now the parents will have to plan two separate birthday parties back-to-back for years to come.
