DFW International Airport is already one of the biggest airports in the country, but somehow it just got a little bigger. It was recently announced the airport is opening four new gates on Wednesday in their busiest terminal, terminal C. The new section is part of a massive remodeling of the terminal.

With nearly 25 million passengers flying in and out of DFW Airport this summer, the new gates in terminal C are opening just in time. The new area features 16-foot ceilings with curved wood, tall glass windows that can be dimmed to shade the hot Texas sun and artificial trees with twinkling lights at the ends of the branches, according to Dallas Morning News. As part of a $139 million gate expansion at the airport, the new section was actually constructed a mile away from the airport and brought in using massive tractors.

"Customers will experience a much more relaxing atmosphere at the High C gates. The new gates will also feature unique art throughout, and it sets the stage for what customers can expect for future construction at DFW," said Khaled Naja, DFW Airport's executive vice president of infrastructure and development. Hopefully these moves make the airport experience better, especially for those waiting on a delayed flight.
