There have been many beloved sports figures to come from DFW over the years, but not many big enough to get their own biopic. However, that’s about to change as one of the most iconic families in wrestling history will soon have their story of triumph and tragedy told on the big screen. It was recently announced that DFW’s own Von Erich family will be getting the biopic treatment, and the movie will star Zac Efron.
For wrestling fans, the Von Erich name has been known for years. It started with Fritz Von Erich, with him and his seven kids taking over the North Texas wrestling scene during the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s. Now, their story will be made into a movie from A24 and director Sean Durkin.

The film will be called ‘The Iron Claw,’ named after the family’s iconic finishing move, according to WFAA. While it has been announced that Zac Efron will star in the film, it is unknown which member of the family he will portray. No release date has been announced but soon DFW’s own will be known to the world.
