There are many great athletes in a variety of sports that come from DFW. Professionals in football, baseball, basketball, soccer, gymnastics and so much more call North Texas home. Now, yet another DFW athlete can be added to this list, although this time in a very unexpected sport, as a Dallas ISD teacher was recently added to the USA national bobsled team.
Freddie Harris may be a physical education teacher at Annie Webb Blanton Elementary in Dallas, but for the last two years he has been training at something other than educating kids. After finishing his football career, Harris wanted to find a new sport and he found bobsledding. Now, the North Texas educator has reached his goal, making the national bobsled team.

“Dreams are just dreams until you put them to actions and become reality,” said Harris. According to NBC DFW, Harris now hopes to make the Olympic Bobsled Team for the 2026 Winter Games. If he does, DFW may have another star athlete popping up on murals around town.
