When a friendship lasts for as long as Elton John and Bernie Taupin's have, it's hard to keep coming up with good gift ideas. Still, Elton John recently found the perfect way to celebrate his lyric writer's 71st birthday. The singer, along with Alice Cooper, recreated a 50 year old photo the group took on Taupin's 21st birthday.
As seen in the now viral post, the original photo featured Elton John, Alice Cooper, Paul Lynde and Bernie Taupin. The new version has each in their same position, with actor Eric McCormack taking the place of Lynde who passed away in 1982. "Bernie Taupin's 21st birthday and, last night, his 71st. Fifty years later… and I got to be Paul Lynde! Fifteen-year-old me would be losing his freakin' mind," McCormack captioned the photo.
According to UPROXX, Elton John re-shared the picture, along with another of just him and Taupin. "Celebrating the milestone birthday of my musical soulmate," John wrote in his Instagram post. Photos like this show why the two have been able to remain friends for all these years.
