Fair Park saw plenty of food over the last month thanks to the State Fair of Texas, but apparently that wasn’t enough as yet another major food event will soon be taking over the area. Next month, the World Food Championships will return to Fair Park for the 10th year of competition. The competition will see over 1,500 top chefs and home cooks competing for over $300,000 in prizes.

On November 9, the World Food Championships will kick off another year of competition at Fair Park in Dallas. At this year’s event, chefs will compete in Food Network style challenges, hoping to gain attention and possibly get the chance to compete on nationally syndicated programs. Since 2012, the WFC has helped find 30 TV food stars and awarded over three million dollars in prize money, according to Dallas Observer.

There will be 10 categories for this year’s contests; bacon, barbecue, burgers, dessert, rice/noodles, sandwiches, seafood, soup, steak and vegetarian. Many are not only hoping to watch the competition, but get a taste of the food as well. Sadly those post state fair diets will just have to wait.
