Fair Park unveils plans for multi-million dollar renovations

A recently passed bill will help raise $300 million toward revitalizing Fair Park

Back in November, Dallas voters passed Proposition A, which called for a 2% increase in the city’s hotel occupancy tax. Part of that bill is expected to raise $300 million towards a revitalize project at Fair Park. Now, Fair Park has unveiled their plans for the project, which includes upgrades to the Cotton Bowl and more.

This week, Fair Park shared the first images of the expected changes coming thanks to Proposition A. There are currently six projects planned, including refurbishing the Cotton Bowl, restoring the iconic art deco venues, establishing Fair Park as a venue for major events and more. “The visitor experience does not hold up to the incredible history of that venue,” said Chair of the Fair Park Board of Directors, Brian Luallen, of the changes coming to the Cotton Bowl.

According to Fox 4 News, Brian Trubey, who previously worked on the American Airlines Center and AT&T Stadium, will lead the project. Ground breaking is expected to occur next year, though no completion date has been announced at this time. Soon enough, Fair Park will be unrecognizable.
