With all the reboots and sequels that have been made over the last few years, the one many fans have actually been asking for is still yet to be made. For years, fans have wanted to see a sequel to Ridley Scott’s 2000 film ‘Gladiator,’ and have even go so far as to suggest actor Chris Hemsworth have a role in the film. While that reboot is yet to be confirmed, one fan took matters into their own hands, creating a trailer for ‘Gladiator 2’ featuring Hemsworth.
The trailer was created by YouTuber Stryker HD using deep fake technology to place Hemsworth into the film. Using clips from the original film, the creator was able to show what a potential sequel could look like with Hemsworth in Russell Crowe’s role of Maximus Decimus. For fans of Hemsworth’s current franchise, ‘Thor,’ the trailer also features Tom Hiddleston superimposed in place of Joaquin Phoenix’s Commodus.
While Fans desperately want to see this sequel, it is unknown if there are currently plans for one to be made. According to Giant Freakin Robot, Crowe and Hemsworth have even discussed a potential sequel in the past. Hopefully this trailer inspires Ridley Scott to make another ‘Gladiator.’
