The staff at the Fort Worth Zoo has been busy lately, as multiple animals have become new parents over the past few weeks. A few days after announcing the birth of a baby hippo, the zoo has yet another newborn animal to announce. On Wednesday, the zoo shared the first images of their new baby gorilla that was born over the weekend.
On November 6, the Fort Worth Zoo delivered their second-ever Western lowland gorilla. The male gorilla is yet to be named, and weighs between four and five pounds. According to NBC DFW, the gorilla is staying close to its mother, but is already fully integrated into the troop at the Zoo’s World of Primates habitat.

The Western lowland gorillas are known for their smaller size, as they are the smallest of the great ape subspecies. For those planning to visit the zoo, their newest gorilla can be seen in both indoor and outdoor areas of the habitat at various times during the day. Hopefully it’s ready to play whenever visitors are around.
