There are plenty of fun things to do in DFW, but one people turn to time and time again is the Fort Worth Zoo. While the zoo is beloved by many in North Texas, it is finally receiving some international recognition as well. The Fort Worth Zoo’s Elephant Springs habitat recently won an international award from the Themed Entertainment Association, and it was the only Texas institution to make the cut.

The Themed Entertainment Association recently handed out awards to 13 honorees being recognized for outstanding achievement. For the Fort Worth Zoo it was their newest exhibit, Elephant Springs, that helped get them the award. The habitat features a climate controlled environment with a 400,000-gallon river where animals can swim and fully submerge. According to CW33, it was the only zoo to be awarded.

“We’re incredibly proud to be recognized for creating a space that offers a highly immersive guest experience, but more importantly provides a natural, lush and enriching environment for this amazing and critically endangered species,” said Ramona Bass. Now the rest of the world will know just how fun DFW can be.
