The original Frankie Goes To Hollywood lineup hadn’t performed together since the 1980s, but that all changed Sunday, when the band reunited to help kick off Eurovision 2023. With the global song contest taking place in the band’s hometown of Liverpool this year, it was the perfect excuse to finally get back together. While future plans for the band are unknown, many fans are hoping this leads to more shows in the future.

Frankie Goes To Hollywood broke up in 1987, and while they have appeared together, the original lineup hadn’t played together in 36 years. Now, the band is back together, as on May 7 Holly Johnson, Brian Nash, Paul Rutherford, Mark O’Toole and Peter Gill took the stage as part of the Eurovision opening ceremony. According to NME, the show was at St George’s Plateau, and the band played ‘Welcome To The Pleasuredome’.

Fans were clearly excited to see the return of the band known for their ’80s hit single ‘Relax.’ Eurovision 2023 will take place between May 9 and 13. Maybe there will be another surprise Frankie Goes To Hollywood performance before it’s over.
