Over the years, Kiss has become known for putting on quite a live show, full of pyrotechnics, props, costumes, and of course plenty of tongue waving. However, adding all these elements to a live show creates the potential for a mistake to be made, and that’s exactly what happened during the band’s recent show in Tampa Bay. As the band descended from the rafters to start the show, the pod Gene Simmons stood on got stuck in midair before tilting over to one side, leaving the rock icon attempting to keep his balance.

As seen a clip that recently went viral, Kiss was forced to improvise as the pods Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and Tommy Thayer were standing malfunctioned. The band played an extended intro of ‘Detroit Rock City’ as they attempted to sort out the error with the pods. At one point, the pod Simmons is standing on tips to the side, though he was able to keep his balance even while wearing 40 pounds of costume.

The pods eventually went back to normal, allowing the members of the band to safely jump on stage and continue their show, according to Ultimate Classic Rock. Issues like the one in Tampa may be why Kiss is claiming this will be their final tour. Hopefully the rest of the tour runs smoother.
