Partying has been a part of the college experience for many years, but back in 1978 a movie helped introduce the world to a new kind of celebration; the toga party. With the help of John Belushi, ‘Animal House’ created the blueprint for how the scantily clad themed party should operate, and those directions have been followed for years on college campuses throughout the country.
Along with the toga party, ‘Animal House’ helped introduce many to the debauchery that happens while in college, but mainly it taught the world how to party like there’s no tomorrow. All that is needed for a proper toga party is a bed sheet, music and plenty of alcohol.
Of course, a toga party is not complete without a sing-along to Otis Day & The Knights’ ‘Shout’ as well. Many have had their most memorable nights thanks to ‘Animal House’ and the toga party. Here’s to one of the great moments in party history!
