There are many examples throughout history of people trying to stop others from partying. Whether it’s a house party getting broken up, a bar announcing last call, or simply not getting invited to join in on the good time, people are constantly being told they must stop partying. Luckily, in 1987 the Beastie Boys put out a party anthem that let people know; sometimes they gotta fight for their right to party.

‘(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)’ comes from the Beastie Boys’ beloved 1986 album, ‘License To Ill.’ While the song was originally written as a party song parody, the fans clearly were tired of being told to stop partying, turning the song into a party anthem for years to come. The song is still played today to help get the party started.

Of course, the Beastie Boys themselves were party icons. Mike D, Ad-Rock and MCA were the life of the party wherever they went, and ‘Fight For Your Right’ helped prove it. Here’s to one of the great moments in party history!
