They say the best way to party is to party like there is no tomorrow and Prince absolutely knew all about that. Throughout his career he gave the world a soundtrack to nights full of fun, but in 1982 he delivered the ultimate party advice. While some may have thought Prince could see the future, he was just teaching the world to party like it is 1999.

Released as the title track to his 1982 album, Prince’s ‘1999’ has become a party anthem, and provided a line people often use to describe how hard they plan on going on a certain night. The song was released 17 years before the date Prince sings about, and 22 years later, fans continue to sing “tonight I'm gonna party like it's 1999.” Over the years, the song has become a staple of the Prince catalog, competing with many others as fans’ favorite.
