One of the most stressful aspects of becoming a new parent is picking the perfect name for their child. While everyone wants an original name for their kid, they also don’t want to pick something they will be made fun of while growing up. Now, the Social Security Administration has unveiled their list of most popular baby names for 2021, and there were definitely some surprises in Texas.

For years, names like Michael, Matthew, Emily and Ashley dominated the list of most popular baby names, but it appears there has been a change in recent years as this year’s list included none of those. According to NBC DFW, the top five most popular boy names for 2021 in Texas were Liam, Noah, Elijah, Mateo and Sebastian. For girls in Texas it was Olivia, Emma, Camila, Isabella and Mia.

Liam has been the top choice for boys since 2018, which has been the same trend nationwide. As for the girl names list, that has remained unchanged since 2020. While these names once seemed original, it may be time to go back to the standards to be different.
