The headline is a bit of a misnomer, because there are so many great pizza spots in DFW I am certain I’ll miss some on this list. That being said, here are the local spots currently making me salivate on #NationalPizzaDay
1. Cutie Pie’s – Uptown
Lately my go-to for delivery. The “RIP Miss Piggy” is my fav on the menu, but it’s really all about those Garlic Knots.
2. Mothership Pizza-Turtle Creek
I’m not even certain this place is open for dine-in, and they are rarely open for delivery. But when they are, the “Area 51” pizza with a side of mozzarella sticks is a great option for singles like yours truly. Just don’t expect them to remember to include your ranch dressing or marinara sauce, no matter how many ways to try to remind them.
3. Tony’s-East Dallas
Another great spot that I love just as much for the garlic bread as the actual pizza. Throw jalapenos on any menu item and enjoy.
4. Urban Crust-Plano
Fantastic scenery in downtown Plano but the “Za” is great too. An order of calamari is a necessity here.
5. Zalat-Everywhere
The ultimate “fast food” pizza of the last five years. I do miss the days with fewer locations when it felt special to stroll up to the Fitzhugh shop and play “pop-a-shot” while waiting for my pie to cook. Still tasty as hell though.
6. Kenny’s East Coast Pizza-Plano
My producer, Jeremy’s favorite local haunt, part of the Kenny’s family. His favorite is the “Spicoli”, named after the iconic “Fast Times” character. Jeremy’s love for this double –cheese and sausage delight makes even more sense when you realize Jeremy’s entire aesthetic is inspired by the Sean Penn role.
