Over the last few years, K-Pop has taken over the world, with a number of acts from South Korea becoming global sensations. Now, the genre is coming to Texas, but not in the way many would expect. It was recently announced that actress Rebel Wilson will star in a movie about a K-Pop group that gets stranded in Waco, Texas.
‘K-Pop: Lost In America’ is set to bring the K-Pop sensation to the big screen. The IMDB synopsis of the film reads “Just days before their American debut at Madison Square Garden, a K-Pop group finds themselves mistakenly stranded in Waco, Texas. In order to make it to New York City, the group must overcome their differences.” Along with Rebel Wilson, the film will star Charles Melton and be directed by South Korean powerhouse JK Youn.

According to Dallas Morning News, the film is expected to premiere in 2023. “We plan to cast K-pop stars in addition to icons in the pop industry to appeal to a global audience,” said Youn. Soon, the K-Pop world will know what Texas is all about.
