Anyone with a job has attempted to come up with an original excuse to get out of work at least once. While most stick with the standards, like faking an illness or family emergency, some try to be more inventive with their excuses. However, one man may have taken things a bit too far when he attempted to fake his own kidnapping to avoid work.

The 19 year old from Coolidge, Arizona was arrested recently after admitting to police that he faked his own kidnapping. The man was found with his hands tied behind his back with a belt and a banana around his mouth near. He told police “two masked men had kidnapped him, hit his head and knocked him unconscious.”

After seeing no signs of kidnapping, the man admitted to his fake work excuse and was arrested for suspicion of false reporting to police, according to Bro Bible. The photo of the man tied up near a water tower went viral despite his excuse not working. Hopefully his job understood he just needed a day off.
