Google is just about everyone’s favorite source for getting answers to their burning questions. Sometimes they even answer questions no one knew they had. That’s normally the case around any holiday, when search information is used to determine each state’s favorite part of the holiday. The latest comes in the form of a viral map, showing each state’s favorite Christmas cookie, and as always; there are plenty of surprises.
Food is a major part of pretty much every holiday tradition, and Christmas is no different. Of course, plenty of sweets are passed around during the holiday season, especially cookies. Now, a map has gone viral using Google Trends to find out each state’s favorite Christmas cookie. For Texas, the top searched for cookie actually wasn’t a cookie at all; it was Christmas cookie ice cream.
Some other surprises on the map include; Washington picking vegan Christmas cookies, while Maine and Wisconsin searched for gluten free Christmas cookies, according to USA Today. “The East coast seemed to favor the internationally inspired cookies in Search, while the South seemed to be searching for Christmas flavored treats, and the Midwest was searching for Christmas cookies with alternative ingredients,” said Google Trends curator Annanya Raghavan. Even with Christmas cookies, every state has their own taste.
