Map shows each state’s favorite Christmas movie

The map used search trends of the top holiday movies to find each state’s favorite

The holiday season is all about tradition, and for many families that means Christmas movies and plenty of them. While new Christmas movies are made every year, it seems it’s the classics most turn to year after year. Now, a new map has gone viral showing each state’s favorite Christmas movie, and while plenty of classics are represented, it wouldn’t be a viral map without a few surprises.

Language learning app Preply got into the holiday spirit this year, conducting a study to find each state’s favorite Christmas movie. The results were found by looking at search trends for “115 of the highest-rated and highest-grossing holiday movies of all-time, according to Rotten Tomatoes and Box Office Mojo.” While classics like ‘Home Alone,’ and ‘Elf’ were well represented, the top choice in most states was ‘The Polar Express.’

According to UPROXX, ‘The Polar Express’ was the top choice in nine states, including Texas. Some other interesting findings were Minnesota picking ‘Jingle All The Way’ as their favorite, and Nebraska going with ‘Christmas with the Kranks.’ Check out the entire map here. Maybe next year some new titles will make the cut.
